In Two Short Hours

“In two short hours, Ms. Chapman changed my understanding of an artist whose work I thought I knew reasonably well. Thanks to her, I discovered that Hopper is both a more sophisticated artist than I once thought and a much simpler one, painting what he saw in front of him, but transforming it into a complex aesthetic experience.”

Richard Dorment, Art Critic, London Daily Telegraph

A Great Tour

This tour was a gift from our daughter and turned out to be a wonderful and informative two hours. We live on the Cape and thought we knew a lot about Wellfleet and Hopper. Beth informed us of so much more! Beth gave us insights into Hopper's paintings and his painting perspective, all the while driving us right by the house or landscape he used. Beth's family has lived in the area for a very long time and this gives her knowledge that would be difficult to find elsewhere. We'll never look at Wellfleet the same way again.

A Hopper Tour

The tour of Hopper's Cape Cod and its environs came to life in a red Subaru the day we took Beth's tour. She masterfully intertwines the life story of a preeminent American painter with the land, structures and people of Massachusetts' famed landform. Beth's lively and researched commentary bring Edward Hopper's paintings alive. A well-organized and presented binder compliments her knowledge of painterly locations frequented by this talented artist. You'll travel down a dirt road thick with forest growth to get the perfect vantage point to see what Hopper saw and interpreted on his canvases. The two-hour excursion seemed only a matter of minutes with Beth's wonderfully creative tales of her own family's and friends' local Cape connections to Hopper and his art.
